attune game board, cards and the design compass

developed through a research-through-design approach for my master's thesis, attune is a serious-reflective game designed to bridge the gap between more-than-human design theory and actionable design praxis

consisting of different components like more-than-human design compass and principle cards as an introductory and evaluative tool, attune aims to address the sensibility inertia, meaning the inability to override anthropocentric habitual defaults

framing attune → conceptual overview of the three guiding theoretical backgrounds informing the design of Attune, The overlap indicates how these pillars jointly shape the artifact as a serious-reflective game.

developed in my master’s thesis, this layered framework explains the praxis gap in more-than-human design: translation fails not only because of missing tools or methods, but because designers and practitioners often return to habitual, human-centered defaults. I identify sensibility, practised as attunement, as the crucial layer for shifting design praxis.

this project demonstrates my ability to synthesize complex sustainability theory and translate it into a practical, engaging tool. attune combines more-than-human design, transformative learning, and game-based methods to help designers reflect on their assumptions and develop more responsible approaches to design practice. it shows how I work between research, facilitation, visual communication, and tool development to make abstract ideas accessible and actionable.

my design philosophy

I use design to explore and make sense of complex social and ecological relationships. my work aims to create spaces for reflection, connection, and new ways of imagining the world. I see design not only as a way to solve problems, but also as a way to ask better questions.
